1. Clark is afraid of something, and someone helps him.
Motherly Advice
Clark's hands shook. "I can't help how I feel."
Martha lowered her coffee cup and set it on the table. "Are you sure, Clark?"
Clark nodded emphatically.
Martha sighed. "I'll arrange for your father and I to be elsewhere."
Clark's huge grin reassured her she was doing the right thing.
"I'm really nervous. How should I tell him? Where do you think is the best place?" Clark's sentences tumbled over each other and Martha laughed at her son's enthusiasm.
"Let me put together a picnic lunch for the two of you."
Thirty minutes later a picnic basket sat atop the kitchen table. Clark nervously rung a dishrag into non-existence. A car thrummed.
"Am I interrupting anything?" Lex said from the screen door.
"No, Lex, I was just leaving." Martha kissed her son on the cheek and smiled as she left.
"So, what's up Clark?"
2. There is an accident with a vehicle or piece equipment of machinery. Another character offers to help. The situation comes to either a good or bad resolution.
Anywhere but here
Lex sat motionless atop a blow-up of Clark's mug shot.
The room was all but destroyed. Fire embraced the monitors and there was nothing left of the wrecked Porsche.
"This isn't how it should be," Clark said.
"You didn't give me any other option." Lex mumbled. He looked everywhere but up.
Clark picked Lex up and pulled him into a gentle embrace.
"You shot fire out of your eyes."
"It was an accident. I reacted before I could think."
Lex looked up into the green eyes of his best friend, the alien.
"I love you," he blurted. It meant nothing.
"If you had waited long enough I would have told you everything you wanted to know," Clark whispered into the bare scalp.
"I do love you," Lex pleaded with more conviction.
"It only makes this so much harder." Clark squeezed and wished he were somewhere else.
3. Clark uses his x-ray vision in a public place: the Talon, a store, the bank. No one but Lex notices anything odd.
X-ray
They were headed for Helen's office when Clark heard moans coming from inside. He grabbed Lex's shirtsleeve and tried to surreptitiously x-ray the room.
Lionel Luthor sat on a leather sofa with Helen between his legs. She was . . . Clark's eyes went wide.
"What is it?" Lex asked at the look of shock on his friend's face.
"Is she expecting us? Maybe we should have called ahead," Clark suggested. He turned and pulled Lex away from the door.
"She won't mind if we surprise her." Lex looked somewhat perturbed. He glanced back at the office door. "Did you see something, Clark?"
"No, but what if she's not here?" Clark tugged on the shirtsleeve urgently.
Lex shrugged him off and stalked over to the door. He gripped the handle. Preparing to fling it open, he paused. "What am I going to find behind this door, Clark?"
4. It's a certain holiday or birthday, and one of the Smallville characters is either happy or unhappy about it. Someone else makes them feel either better or worse.
The Picnic
The setting sun reddened the darkening sky. Clark knelt down on the checked tablecloth. Lex sat quietly leaning on one arm.
"I have something very important I need to tell you," Clark said.
Fireworks exploded in the distance and they both turned to watch the show. Clark turned back to Lex. He watched the lights dance in his friend's eyes. Lex looked sad when he didn't think Clark was watching.
"What's wrong?"
Lex turned to look into Clark's eyes. "It's ending."
A surge of panic gripped Clark. He reached out and brushed fingers across Lex's bare arm.
Lex looked off into the distance and sighed.
Clark slid closer to his friend and took a chance. Lips pressed to the cool bare scalp and words Lex never thought to hear, were whispered into his skin.
The smile was worth any risk Clark had ever taken.
5. Clark is endangered by green kryptonite (we can use the word now!) and is rescued by someone who doesn't understand what is happening.
Hero
His body was in so much pain.
He was trying to crawl away from the rocks. He had collapsed in the field on his way home from one of his secret nightly visits with Lex.
He heard a rustle to the left. Familiar feet stopped in front of him. He tried to look up. Strong arms pulled him up to a sitting position. Clark moaned.
"Easy Kent." His savior dragged him out of the field to a waiting truck. Clark felt fine almost immediately.
"Thanks Whitney." Clark stood shakily. He brushed at the dust on his jeans.
Whitney placed a hand on Clark's shoulder. "Too much to drink, Clark?"
Clark just nodded, happy to have the lie.
"Can you get in the truck without my help?"
Clark nodded dumbly again and climbed into the passenger seat. "Could you take me to the castle?"
"Sure."
6. "It's Gotta Be Done..." A Smallville character has a task to accomplish that he or she does not really want to do. What is it, and how is it resolved?
Bite the Bullet
This was it. There was no turning back.
Clark waited for her by the locker. Lana didn't see him as she approached. When she turned to face him he tried to smile.
He envisioned Lex being the one to tell her.
"I need to talk to you," Clark said. She looked up at him. The intense stare she always turned on everybody was on him. Reason number twenty-eight to be doing this.
Clark looked up at the sharp intakes of breath around him. Lex was standing by the doors, hands in pockets. He stretched the fabric of his slacks across his crotch.
"I can't date you anymore," Clark blurted. He brushed past her and ran to Lex.
"You did it?"
Clark looked behind him. Lana was staring at them with a stunned expression.
"You did it," Lex sighed and nudged Clark toward the exit.
7. Surprise! "A Smallville character (or characters) receives a surprise. A surprise that's either welcome, unwelcome, or both. Describe what happens!"
Take this
(sequel to X-ray) For dameange, ionah.
Lex turned the knob. The door was locked.
"She must be out," Clark said grabbing Lex's arm.
"Clark, you have to tell me. What's going on here?"
The look on his friend's face hurt. Clark couldn't let this happen. Helen was hurting him just like the rest. He knew what he had to do.
Clark looked around. The hallway was empty. He smiled down at Lex and stepped closer. "This is kind of a surprise, even for me." Clark leaned in and tilted his head. With a gentle brush of lips, Clark sighed. Lex stiffened. Clark licked and probed. The velvet lips parted and warm wet tongues tangled.
Clark broke the kiss and looked into wide blue eyes.
"You waited until now to tell me." Lex's voice is hoarse.
"I'll never hurt you," Clark whispered and kissed him again.
The door behind them opened.
8. Lex invites Clark to go with him to a night club in Metropolis. Jonathan tells Clark he can't go. What does Clark do?
Club
Lex knew he was sulking but he didn't care. He gulped his drink and set the empty glass down. The bartender refilled without prompting.
Lex sighed deeply and watched the dancers gyrate on the dance floor. He was searching for something he wouldn't find. Clark's father had said no and Clark always listened to his father.
Lex's heart sped up when he spotted a dark-haired tall man who could have been Clark, until the man turned around to reveal the face of a stranger. Lex sighed again and chuckled at his own stupidity.
A hand fell on his shoulder. A hard body pressed against him from behind.
"Go away," Lex said automatically. He wasn't picking up tonight. He didn't have to pick up.
Lips brushed erotically against the shell of his ear. "Are you sure you want me gone?" Clark's voice rumbled.
Lex smiled.
9. "What Happened?" ("produce" scene from "Metamorphosis")
Dialogue from episode 2, "Metamorphosis," season 1
(scene: Luthor Manor, the room with the Trojan War diorama)
Lex: Save any lives on your way over? Keep this up and you could make a career out of it.
Clark: Just dropping off your produce. Sorry my parents gave you a hard time.
Lex: Aw, if push came to shove, I would've arm-wrestled them for it.
What's the story behind this conversation? Why did Lex decide he wanted produce? How did he try to get it? Why the hard time? What were the specifics? What was the mentioned conversation like? Give us more information on what sparked this exchange! (Thanks to Leah for taking dictation from the S'ville DVD.)

Butter him up
As always was the case, suspicion followed wherever he went.
"Who'll be delivering it?" Lex said into the phone.
"My son, Clark, he does the delivers twice a week after school."
Lex could feel the hostility from Mr. Kent through the phone.
He smiled. "I'll need delivers three times a week," he drawled.
Silence followed.
"I know you don't like me," Lex smirked as he said this.
"That's not really relevant," Jonathan bit out; hostility doubled.
Lex wanted to laugh. Sometimes he loved how uncomfortable he made people but not now. This was a chance to see Clark on a regular basis and Lex wasn't pulling punches.
"I only like organic vegetables and I know your farm grows the best." Butter him up.
Mr. Kent grunted. "Right."
"In truth," Lex lowered his voice, "I hate fertilizer."
The laughter on the other end signaled triumph.
10. An unexpected catastrophe mars Lex's wedding preparations. What is it? Describe and enjoy doing it.
Eloping
Waking up in a strange hotel was nothing new. Waking up naked in a strange hotel was definitely nothing new.
Lex sat up and lifted the bed sheets. Very naked and very dirty; sex dirty.
He shook his head and, for the first time, noticed the sound of a shower running and clothing strewn everywhere. His suit from the rehearsal dinner sat in a crumpled heap on a chair.
A room key with a tag that said Hotel Villa Saint-Germain, sat on the night table.
"This is a nightmare. What -."
The bathroom door opened and a very naked and very wet Clark walked out. Lex watched as Clark climbed onto the bed and sprawled like he had ever right to.
"Finally." Clark smiled brightly. "Awake at last."
Clark reached out and caressed Lex's bare chest. Light glinted off the red stone on Clark's ring.
11. Clark learns something about Lara, his biological mother. How does he learn it? What does he learn, or what does he do?
12. (possible spoilers for "Exodus") Clark discovers that Lex is in peril. Describe his reaction and, if you like, subsequent reaction. This can include (of course) the imminent disaster given us in the season finale, but is not limited to that. Any kind of peril (serious or frivolous) will do!
Taking Mine Back
The newspaper headline declared in 60 point font: LUTHOR JET CRASHES INTO OCEAN.
Clark punched a hole in the plastic and stared - hard. He speed-read ever word.
"How am I supposed to save you from that one?" he asked nobody in particular. A few people around him stared, startled expressions on faces.
Clark ran fast. When he reached the castle he only found an irate Lionel screaming into the phone. Something about not giving up on finding his son - and Helen.
Helen. Clark had forgotten about her. She was barely a footnote in the article.
He looked down at the ring on his finger.
"Nobody takes what's mine," he shouted. "I'm coming to get you, Lex." Clark spun around and ran more.
It took seconds to find where the plane had crashed, then days of swimming at super speed to find the island.
13. "Lost!" "Someone in Smallville has lost something important. It's up to you whether you want it to be found, but show us who, and what!"
The Drowning Man
The sunshine reflected off the crisp white snow. He sat on a stone bench, staring out across the water.
Lex didn't look up when the warm hand fell on his.
"I could have left the world all bleeding," Lex whispered suddenly. The hand on his jerked.
"It's cold out here, Lex," Clark said softly.
Lex's lips curled with a tiny smile. He lifted a hand and stroked Clark across a cheek. "So young and beautiful and brave."
Clark furrowed his brow, and slipped an arm around Lex's frail shoulders.
Lex lifted his head and looked into Clark's worried eyes. They were still a lush green.
"Age isn't curable, Clark."
"I love you so much."
"I love you, too."
Clark shuddered and hugged Lex close. "Now he says it, after sixty years," Clark choked.
"We've had a good life, Clark. It's time to say goodbye."
Dedicated to my lj friends. Also fulfills the cure song fiction challenge.
14. "Lex decides to get away from it all for a day or two. Maybe alone, maybe not. What does he do?"
15. Flowers "Write something involving Clark and/or Lex and a flower or flowers - real or artificial, gifts or growing wild, in Nell Potter's shop or the Nicodemus plant, or anything else."
Fret
An hour ago the priest had asked him when the ceremony was going to start. He had no answer.
Lex adjusted the red rosebud in his lapel for the tenth time. It wouldn't sit right no matter what he did. Nothing was sitting right today.
Its mate sat, shredded, on the table before him. Ten minutes ago he had angrily crushed it.
"You can't do this to me, Kent." Lex scowled, and fisted the bruised petals. He tossed them aside.
Mrs. Kent entered with an apologetic expression on her face. Lex's heart sank.
She held up a cell phone.
Lex snatched the phone from her. "You'd better be dead, Kent."
"Look up."
Lex did. He found Clark standing at the door, dressed in a pristine white tux, and a ruby-red rosebud at the lapel.
"I heard I needed a new flower," Clark said gently.
16: Old Habits Die Hard "Someone in Smallville changes an old habit. It can be a good habit or a bad one. Just show us what happens!"
